We are excited to announce a brand new opportunity for artists and creative writers. Tetrad are happy to announce that they will be releasing an online digital magazine in autumn 2016, and are on the lookout for contributions that fit the Brief: The Drawing Board
(More details below)
Tetrad’s first magazine aims to be artist led where practitioners and audiences can discuss performance and process, what they do, how they do it, and what obstacles we face in the industry today. It will be a space for artists to craft words as a provocation, a performance, a protest, an observation or description of practice.
Proposals are welcome from all UK-based practitioners, including emerging artists from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Selected artists will receive:
- Feature in Tetrad’s first magazine: The Drawing Board
- £50 fee
- Featured on our website www.tetradcollective.com
Tetrad is delighted to present a new opportunity for emerging writers and artists to help contribute to our new online magazine due for launch in autumn this year. We are looking for three written responses to the theme of starting, beginning, creating, launching, commencing, creating; what is it to be at The Drawing Board?
We’re looking for creative text pieces that explore some or all of the following themes/ideas.
- Where do performance ideas come from? Where to start?
- What physical form can starting a creative project take?
- What can come first; form vs content?
- Where can inspiration or influence be drawn?
- Do you have something to say?
- What are you setting out to achieve?
- How does your audience factor in?
- Reality vs expectation?
These responses can come in many forms, they can be journalistic or exploratory, autobiographical, academic, poetic or creative. Each article may combine text, image, film, graphics, drawings, creative, fictional or critical works, and use a variety of materials with in mind of it being published online.
Most importantly we want to hear your artist voice, we want to hear what you think about the approaches to making new work and we want to get a sense of your journey exploring the subject matter.
PROPOSAL DEADLINE: Friday 1st July 2016
Selected artists will be expected to submit a draft of their writing by Monday 1st August 2016 and submit the completed article by Friday 23rd September 2016. We expected the selected writings to be no longer than the equivalent of 2000 words.
